Road Network Upgrades

As part of an initiative to develop and support the Al Ghail industrial area, our client is upgrading its existing road network by adding 11 kilometres of roads and 27 kilometres of streetlights.

The project scope includes upgrades to the existing subbase road, road connections to federal road E18, free zone entrance and street lighting to service existing leased or occupied land plots. These upgrades will increase accessibility in the area and enable our client to generate more revenue by leasing vacant plots.

Overcoming Unexpected Delays

The project kick-started in September 2019 and was temporarily suspended in June 2020 due to COVID-19. Our team was appointed to provide project management services in 2021 and is managing the renewal of the project and seeing it through to final completion.

To restart this project, our team led the review of contractor and consultant contracts, mitigated claims, developed a strategy to revive the project, prepared a phased master program and renegotiated with the contractor to get it approved. The project is now in construction and on-track for completion in mid-2022.
