Colliers Project Leaders in Calgary is stepping up to fight Prostate Cancer. Staff from our Calgary office are taking part in the Step Up Challenge 2017 on February 12.
Each participant has to complete the daunting task of climbing five of Calgary’s prominent downtown office buildings. The five buildings taking part are:
Teams will climb 5,000 feet while raising a minimum of $5,000. Shaun Jones, Rick Oliver, Chris Hudson, Charl Johnson, Derek Weiss, and Simon Rainsbury make up the Colliers Project Leaders team. The team is currently 10th* in the top fundraising team rankings, and Rainsbury is 12th* among individual fundraisers.
“This is an exciting event and we are proud to raise money to help find a cure for this serious issue,” says Shaun Jones. “The physical challenge is unique. It is not a run, a walk, or a bike ride. It is a climb. Those raising money are essentially taking an extensive hike in downtown Calgary.”
All the proceeds raised in the Calgary Step Up Challenge are supporting the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Located in Calgary, the Centre is the comprehensive cancer centre for southern Alberta, and a lead centre for province-wide cancer prevention, research and treatment programs. It conducts research through the Alberta Cancer Research Institute, and provides advanced medical and supportive cancer care, patient and professional education.
Similar events are taking place in Vancouver (February 19) and Toronto (March 5) respectively.
