Thunder Bay Art Gallery Launches Community Fundraising Campaign

September 25, 2023

The Thunder Bay Art Gallery recently launched Phase Two of its Community Funding Campaign. With an ambitious goal of $5 million, the gallery will use the funds to support the construction of its new waterfront facility. More than double in size of its existing location, the waterfront gallery will house expansive exhibition spaces, programming areas and a storage vault to store its collection of Indigenous and northwestern Ontario art.

“We know that many people in the community are eager to support the construction of this beautiful new building because they understand the extensive benefits to the city including increased visual arts experiences for people of all ages and walks of life as well as substantial economic and tourism impacts” shares Campaign Chair Shelley Crawford.

Like many across Canada, the new gallery project is experiencing increased construction material and labour costs, as well as supply chain issues. Our Colliers Project Leaders team in Thunder Bay is working with the gallery’s Board of Directors to help tackle these challenges with value engineering, cost containment and new generation revenue approaches, along with other members of the construction team.
