Our Commitment to Sustainability
Embracing sustainability is a guiding principle, driven by our commitment to doing the right thing for our clients, people and communities.
We’re committed to integrating sustainable practices throughout our own operations and our clients’ projects. We prioritize minimizing our environmental footprint, considering the ways buildings and infrastructure are designed, built, occupied and repurposed. By embedding sustainability principles into our decision-making processes, we are creating long-term value while positively impacting the communities we serve.
With our parent company Colliers, we are committed to reducing emissions in line with the SBTi 1.5°C program and achieving net zero in our own operations by 2030.
In 2023, we developed our own GHG emissions inventory baseline across each scope of emissions for our Canadian operations.
Inside the numbers
Our Scope 1 emissions consist of fuels consumed to provide air and water heating to our occupied offices (primarily via gas) and in our fleet of leased and owned vehicles, which primarily operate on gasoline. Electrifying the fleet is the near-term strategy to address these emissions.
Our Scope 2 emissions are predominantly from purchased electricity. Purchases of renewable electricity are key to making reductions in this area, and we are aiming for 100% of our electricity supply to come from renewable sources by 2030.
As our office leases expire and when priorities dictate a relocation, we are prioritizing new spaces with low energy-use intensity (EUI) and/or zero-emissions energy. We are using our space efficiently and reducing our occupied floor area wherever possible.
Our Scope 3 emissions largely result from the use of purchased goods and services, business travel and employee commuting. With baseline emissions now established, we will develop plans over the next 12 months to decarbonize these elements.
