June 21, 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day. We recognize and celebrate the heritage, cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people.
This National Indigenous Peoples Day and beyond, we encourage you to take a step towards learning about Indigenous cultures – and the ways you can take conscious steps toward Reconciliation. The links below are a good starting point in a long educational journey for non-Indigenous people. Use these resources to begin – one article, document, virtual event, and report at a time.
- Celebrate with family, friends, and colleagues, by signing up for one of the summersolsticefestivals.ca virtual events.
- Read a report, watch an educational video or learn how individuals have taken steps towards building resilient and sustainable communities on Reconciliation Canada’s website.
- Learn about the impacts of Residential Schools, and how we can move forward together by downloading the Assembly of First Nations’ toolkit.
- Find out how you can help build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous People in the business community by visiting the the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business website.
