The case for municipalities to adopt zero emission buses (ZEBs) and decarbonize other municipal fleets has grown significantly as Canada advances its 40 percent emissions reduction target by 2030 and net-zero emissions goal by 2050.

Anne Bourgeault, Colliers Project Leaders’ Director of Infrastructure Services for Eastern Canada, recently spoke at the Atlantic Mayors’ Congress in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, about the challenges municipalities face decarbonizing their bus and other municipal fleets. Drawing on experience working with municipalities including the City of Ottawa, Halifax Regional Municipality and Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Anne shared fleet integration strategies from both a change management and risk management perspective.

Attendees heard about lessons learned from our projects and a ‘day in the life’ of a ZEB – from required maintenance and yard management to planning and network operation centres.
