On September 30, we will mark the third annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – a day to pause, reflect and honour the resilience of Indigenous people. Reconciliation begins with the truth, and we all have a shared responsibility to listen, learn and take action. Not just on one day, but every day.
This year, as part of our ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, our organization launched our Community Builder Grant to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous youths to their communities. We partnered with a panel of Indigenous leaders who selected three outstanding youths to receive awards towards their education, a community building project or a new business idea.
This week, all of our employees will come together to hear these recipients’ stories and discuss the future of Indigenous projects – what they look like and how we are partnering and contributing.
