Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto officially opened Biidaasige Park, a stunning public space located on the newly created Ookwemin Minising Island. Biidaasige Park is fully equipped with picnic areas, a playground with ziplines, two off-leash dog areas, accessible trails, areas to launch non-motorized personal watercraft and more. It is the largest park to open in Toronto, Ontario in a generation and is a new home to more than 5,000 trees, 77,000 shrubs and two million herbaceous plants.

The park opening also marks a major milestone in the ongoing Port Lands Flood Protection Project, a transformative revitalization effort to protect the city’s eastern waterfront from future flooding. The multi-year flood protection project involves the creation of a naturalized river valley, critical flood protection infrastructure and new spaces to enable future residential and commercial development.

Once complete, the revitalized Port Lands will support thousands of new homes and jobs while restoring natural ecosystems and offering accessible green space to Torontonians. This summer 50 acres of parkland opened, along with the transformed river. Next summer, another 10 acres of parkland will open.

Our team is working with Waterfront Toronto to provide our full suite of project and program management services for the Port Lands Flood Protection project. We are proud to see Biidaasige Park open to the public and look forward to helping Waterfront Toronto deliver the remainder of the Port Lands Flood Protection program.
