Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) achieved a major milestone toward sustainable transit by launching its first 60 electric buses in May 2025.
The launch aligns with the opening of the new Ragged Lake Transit Centre, Canada’s first fully net-zero bus facility. Built with advanced charging infrastructure, the centre will power HRM’s growing electric fleet and drive the municipality’s efforts to reduce emissions.
Phase two of HRM’s electric bus initiative includes a $20-million upgrade to the transit centre in Burnside. This investment will prepare the facility to accommodate electric, diesel and future low-emission technologies expected by 2028.
Proudly supporting this multi-phased project, our Colliers Project Leaders team is working with HRM to help build a more sustainable, resilient future for the community.
