Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) achieved a major milestone toward sustainable transit by launching its first 60 electric buses in May 2025.

The launch signifies the completion of Phase one of the Halifax Transit Zero Emission Bus Project. The project aligns with the HalifACT climate action plan to achieve net zero by 2050.  Built with associated charging infrastructure, the transit centre will power HRM’s growing electric fleet and drive the municipality’s efforts to reduce emissions.

Phase two of HRM’s Zero Emission Bus initiative includes a $20 million upgrade to the transit centre in Burnside. This investment will allow the new net-zero facility to accommodate electric, diesel and future low-emission technologies expected by 2028.

Proudly supporting this multi-phased project, our Colliers Project Leaders team is working with HRM to help build a more sustainable, resilient future for the community.
