Instacart, a US-based technology company, provides a cloud-based platform that powers and integrates all aspects of digital grocery shopping into one seamless shopping experience. Instacart recently purchased Canadian-based Unata Inc. in a bid to expand its operations into the Canadian market. Following the acquisition, the company wanted to relocate staff from the old Unata office located at 504 Wellington St West in Toronto into approximately 32,500 square feet at 190 Liberty Street — a brick and beam building in Liberty Village. It also planned to implement an innovative new workplace strategy more reflective of its brand, culture and talent, and better aligned with its ambitions moving forward. Another goal of the relocation project was to bring staff from the two companies together in a centralized Toronto location.

The new design plan was developed around Instacart’s US workplace design standards. It was led by a US-based design firm the company had worked with previously to implement its design vision in other locations. The main floor of the freshly renovated office accommodates both client-facing and office space and houses approximately 200 staff. It also includes collaborative spaces, meeting rooms, closed offices, workstations, a reception area, two cafés/lunch/lounge areas, and new washroom facilities.
