Beausoleil First Nation recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its highly-anticipated Indigenous Women and Children’s Shelter. The ceremony, which included a traditional blessing from local Anishinaabe Elders, marks a new beginning for many families. Attendees were able to learn more about the shelter’s mission, funding efforts, and the new services the shelter will offer in the community.
The shelter will provide a secure, trauma-informed and culturally safe space for women and children who have experienced violence and/or abuse. The space will also provide access to community-based programs, crisis services, preventative care and other educational programming. The shelter is part of Beausoleil’s larger plan and vision to promote long-term health and empowerment for all Nation members.
We are proud to partner with Beausoleil First Nation to help the community reach this exciting milestone. Our project management team will be engaged throughout the construction and closeout phases of the project. We look forward to supporting the First Nation as it continues to expand services.
