Located in Saint John, the New Brunswick Museum is set to undergo a major revitalization project known as Revitalize New Brunswick Museum (NBM). This initiative is a joint effort involving both provincial and federal governments, as well as the museum’s board of directors. Scheduled for completion in early 2026, the project aims to transform the museum into a sustainable and decarbonized facility, with a strong focus on using mass timber to honor New Brunswick’s forestry and shipbuilding heritage. The museum also seeks zero-carbon certification by integrating advanced energy-efficient technologies.
The renovation and expansion will span 130,000 sq. ft. and feature a range of new amenities including a boutique, café, public gallery, and outdoor terrace. The updated facility will also house a 115-seat auditorium, offices, a 30,000 sq. ft. exhibition space, a library, archival reading room, and expanded research facilities.
Our Moncton team played a key role in managing the prime design consultant request for proposal process and contract award to Diamond Schmitt Architects. This first key contract award allowed New Brunswick Museum to begin their design journey on this extensive project.
