The City of Thunder Bay marked a major milestone in its revitalization efforts with a groundbreaking ceremony at Victoriaville Centre. City officials, project partners and community members gathered to celebrate the start of construction for the Reimagine Victoriaville project, which begins with the demolition of the mall in July.
The revitalization will create a vibrant and accessible downtown hub by reopening a portion of Victoria Avenue to vehicle traffic and introducing bike lanes, wider sidewalks and public plazas. The project also includes plans to redesign Syndicate Avenue to feature green spaces, seating areas and enhanced pedestrian pathways.
“It’s invigorating,” Thunder Bay Mayor Ken Boshcoff said. “People can feel the uplift of all these types of projects that are going on as they all come together. You can see the community strengthening in the new prosperity.”
Our team is partnering with the City of Thunder Bay on the revitalization project, providing project management services. Colliers Project Leaders’ Project Lead Kimberly Smith, Project Manager Samantha Mannila, and Assistant Project Manager Val Allan will oversee the project through to completion.
